hot chocolate recipe

Happy Holidays!

It snowed in Seattle yesterday which means that I want to do two things: 1) bundle up in my down jacket and go for a long walk; and 2) curl up on the couch in front of the tree with a warm cup of something yummy.

I used to buy the hot chocolate that comes in individual packets {before I started reading labels}.  As you can imagine, it is chocked full of sugar and unnecessary processed and genetically modified ingredients.  Here’s the ingredient list for a Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate packet: sugar, corn syrup, modified whey, cocoa (processed with alkali), hydrogenated cocnut oil, nonfat milk, calcium carbonate, less than 2% of: salt, dipotassium phosphate, mono- and diglyderides, artificial flavor.

Who knew that making your own hot chocolate is just as quick and easy?

And you just need three ingredients: milk, maple syrup, and cocoa powder.
