Gratitude

What are you thankful for?

For me, November is a time of reflection.  With Thanksgiving right around the corner, everyday I have been trying to intentionally think about all of the wonderful things in my life.  Things, people, and even the intangibles, that I am grateful for.

Now, as most people would agree, everything is not perfect.  There are things that I wish I had, wish I could afford, wish I could do, wish I didn’t have to do.

But there are so many things that are wonderful in my life.  I am very lucky and happy and it is important to reflect on these.  I am grateful for a healthy body and mind.  I am thankful for people in my life – like my husband, family, and friends – who are very caring and supportive of each other.  I am thankful for adventure and the ability to travel; for freedoms afforded to us by our country; to live in a region of the world that is abundant in natural resources.  For all these things I am very blessed.

I believe that having a conscious gratitude perpetuates happiness.  It makes me want to be a better person; give back to my community; make someone’s day a little easier.

One of my favorite bloggers, Emily of Jones Design Company, inspired me to put up a Thankful Tree.  I downloaded her cute (and free) thankful tag template, write notes about what I am thankful for, and hang them on the tree.
